Construction Club for Year 1 and Year 2 Students
Construction Club has been a huge hit this term, with enthusiastic Years 1 and 2 students eagerly taking on a range of exciting building challenges. Each week, students develop their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while working with different materials.
Some of the challenges completed so far have included building the tallest tower using Lego, Unifix cubes, and recycled bottle lids. We have began moving away from the tallest tower to making animals out of the different resources. Students have shown incredible perseverance as they test their ideas, learn from setbacks, and adapt their designs to create stronger and taller structures. Through these challenges, students are also building resilience by continuing to try new ideas, overcoming obstacles, and not giving up when things don't go to plan.
It has been wonderful to see the excitement and engagement during each session, and we can't wait to see what our builders create next Tuesday at Recess.

Year 10 Dinner & Dance
On 2 September, our Year 10 students enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Gosnells Golf Club for the Year 10 Dinner & Dance. The event provided an opportunity for students to come together outside the classroom to celebrate their friendships and achievements throughout the year.
The night was filled with laughter, dancing, and delicious food, creating a memorable experience for all who attended. Students embraced the occasion with enthusiasm and demonstrated excellent behaviour, making the evening a true success.
A special thank you goes to the staff who helped organise and supervise the event, as well as the Gosnells Golf Club for hosting us. It was a fantastic night of celebration and community, and one that our Year 10 students will remember for years to come.

Protein Chemistry Excursion to Harry Perkins Institute
Our Year 12 ATAR Chemistry students recently extended their learning beyond the classroom with an enriching visit to the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
The day focused on Protein Chemistry and its role in addressing the global challenge of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Following an engaging workshop exploring protein structure and function, students gained hands-on experience in the Institute's laboratories, using gel electrophoresis techniques to isolate and identify proteins associated with tetracycline resistance.
Students also toured the Institute's state-of-the-art research facilities, gaining valuable insight into the diverse STEM pathways and careers available in scientific research. Experiences such as these provide authentic learning opportunities that inspire curiosity, deepen understanding, and connect classroom concepts with real-world scientific applications.

From Setup to Service: Year 12 Hospitality Takes the Lead
Our Year 12 Hospitality students spent the afternoon getting hands-on with some exciting new equipment for our Hospitality program!
Students worked together to set up our new till and point-of-sale system, exploring the software, creating the ordering system and learning how everything works behind the scenes.
After an afternoon of setting up, testing and problem-solving, they’re now ready to put it all into action next week!
Well done to our Year 12 Hospitality students for taking ownership of the setup and figuring it all out together!
