Term 3 Wrap-Up

What a busy, productive and successful Term 3 it has been in the Junior School! Our students and staff have worked incredibly hard throughout the term, showing commitment, enthusiasm and perseverance as they continue to work towards their learning and personal goals. There has certainly been plenty happening across our classrooms, and we are proud of the wonderful achievements and experiences our students have enjoyed.

Year 3 – Making Great Progress!

Our Year 3 students have been working particularly diligently on their reading, writing and spelling this term. Their hard work is beginning to shine through, with some very impressive results evident in recent assessments. It has been fantastic to see students developing greater confidence in their skills and taking increasing ownership of their learning. We look forward to seeing this progress continue throughout the remainder of the year.

Year 5 – Discovering New Norcia

The Year 5 students recently embarked on their much-anticipated Retreat to New Norcia. It was certainly a long journey, but one that proved to be well worth the travel! Students thoroughly enjoyed this very popular experience and had the opportunity to learn about New Norcia – Australia's only monastic town, its fascinating history and its significance within the Catholic tradition.

A particular highlight was learning more about Dom Rosendo Salvado, our College Patron, and the remarkable contribution he made to the establishment and development of New Norcia. The day provided students with an opportunity to connect their learning about our College's history, charism and Catholic identity with a very special place in our Australian story.

Year 6 – Preparing for Confirmation

Our Year 6 students who are candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation are continuing their preparation for this important celebration. Students and their parents/carers recently participated in the Parent/Child Workshop at St Francis Xavier Church in Hilbert, providing an opportunity to deepen their understanding and prepare together for the Sacrament.

We wish our Confirmation candidates well as they continue this important journey of faith. All Year 6 students are also eagerly looking forward to their Year 6 Retreat, which is coming up very soon!

Year 4 – A Journey into History

Our Year 4 students enjoyed an incredibly interesting excursion to Fremantle, where they explored some of the city's significant historical sites, including Fremantle Prison and the Round House.

There was plenty to see, discover and discuss as students connected their classroom learning with real places and stories from Western Australia's past. With so much history to uncover, there was certainly so much to learn and so little time!

PAT Reading and Mathematics Testing

Next week, students will commence their PAT Reading and Mathematics assessments. These assessments provide valuable information about student learning and growth and help teachers identify areas of strength as well as areas where students may benefit from further support or extension.

We know our students will approach their assessments with their usual positive attitude and determination, and we encourage them to simply do their best.

Swimming Lessons – Important Parent/Carer Action Required

A reminder that Swimming Lessons will commence in Week 1 of Term 4.

Due to new systemic requirements, all parents/carers are required to complete a Consent Form for students attending the Armadale Aquatic Centre.

As we reach the end of another very busy term, we would like to congratulate our Junior School students and staff on their hard work, achievements and commitment throughout Term 3.

We hope all our families enjoy a well-deserved break, with plenty of opportunities to rest, relax and spend quality time together.
