A Message from the Principal
Dear Families and Friends
As Term 3 draws to a close, there is much to be grateful for. It has been another busy term, filled with opportunities for our students to learn, grow, compete, serve and strengthen their connection with one another and with our College.
Year 5 Retreat to New Norcia
One particularly special experience this term was our Year 5 Retreat to New Norcia. The visit coincided with the Feast of the Nativity of Mary, and our students had the privilege of joining the Benedictine monks for liturgy — a wonderful opportunity to experience something quite different from their usual school day in a place that holds such significance for our College.
As students of Salvado Catholic College, it is important that they come to know more about Dom Rosendo Salvado — not simply as the person after whom our College is named, but as someone whose faith, courage, service and commitment helped shape the story of New Norcia. They were also given the rare opportunity to visit the crypt where Dom Salvado is laid to rest, adding another layer of meaning to their visit.
Experiences such as these help our students understand that the story of Salvado Catholic College is connected to something much bigger. Our Benedictine heritage gives us a rich foundation and reminds us of the importance of community, hospitality, service and faith.
R U OK? Day
Across both our Primary and Secondary Schools, students and staff marked R U OK? Day through a range of activities focused on connection, wellbeing and looking out for one another.
The day is an important reminder that sometimes a simple conversation can make a real difference. Encouraging our students to notice when someone may not seem themselves, to ask how they are going and, importantly, to listen to the answer, is an important part of building a caring and connected College.
While R U OK? Day gives us a particular focus, checking in with one another extends well beyond one day. We want our students to know that asking for help is a strength and that there are always people within our College ready to listen and support them.
Thank you to the staff and students who coordinated activities across the College and brought such positive energy to the day.
Primary Athletics Carnival
Our Primary Athletics Carnival was another wonderful highlight of the term. There were some impressive individual performances, but just as pleasing was the spirit in which the day was conducted. Students competed enthusiastically, supported one another and represented their Houses with pride.
Events such as these require a great deal of organisation and preparation. My sincere thanks to Mr Brodie Fiegert, Sports Coordinator, and Ms Kristy Wise, Primary Sports Teacher, for their work behind the scenes, and to the many staff who assisted throughout the day. Thank you also to our parents and families who came along to support the carnival and helped create such a positive atmosphere.
Congratulations to Vincent House, who were crowned the overall winners of the Primary Athletics Carnival. It was a fitting end to a terrific day of competition, House spirit and community.
Farewelling Our Year 12 Students
As we approach the end of Term 3, we also begin the important task of farewelling our Year 12 students. This group holds a very special place in the history of Salvado Catholic College as our first graduating Year 12 cohort. They have grown with the College and helped shape the school that those who follow them will inherit.
Before that farewell, however, there is still important work ahead. Final assessments and examinations remain, and I encourage each of our Year 12 students to continue giving their best right through to the finish line.
Term 3 may mark the end of regular classes, but it is not quite the end of their journey with us. In Term 4, we will come together with their parents to formally celebrate their achievements, acknowledge their leadership and mark their transition from students to graduates at the Graduation Liturgy and Ceremony on Tuesday 20 October 2026.
My prayer for them is that, wherever life takes them, they will always know they can draw strength from their faith, their family, their friends and the Salvado community.
At the conclusion of another busy term, I hope all of our students and staff enjoy a well-deserved and revitalising break. I look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 4 on Tuesday 13 October 2026.
