Pathways

It’s been a very busy start to Term 3 as the Careers Team support students with their decisions for future study.

The term began with selected Year 10 students visiting other local schools (Kurunjang SC, Staughton College and St Francis Catholic College) to view VET programs that are available for 2025 as part of VCE Vocational Major.

A group of Year 10 students are currently participating in a new Multi Trade Program at AGA Deer Park. This program allows students to participate in Plumbing, Construction, Electrical and Automotive classes every Friday during Semester 2. This opportunity gives students a greater insight into these trades to be better informed to choose their preferred VET for 2025.

Another group of students attended Kangan Future event on 8th August to view their facilities and trade programs in the Automotive industry. Students were able to practise their tyre changing skills and check tyre pressures.

This term a group of Year 11 and 12 VCE Vocational Major students have been completing a VET Public Safety (Fire Operations) every Wednesday. Students have developed skills in using different fire extinguishers.

Regular visitors to Melton Secondary College are student ambassadors from Deakin University (MODS). This term they introduced students to the VTAC process for applying for University or TAFEs courses and the SEAS and Scholarship process to support their applications.

Last month, our Year 12 VCE ATAR students attended the Melbourne Career Expo to explore courses that are available at TAFE and Universities in 2025.

Finally, a big thank you to Ms Michelle Mayhew, our VET Salon teacher, for providing students with tours of our Trade Training Centre to support students to confirm their plans to study VET Salon Assistant in 2025.
