Design Technology Overview

The STEM Centre has been a hive of activity for the Design Technologies students of all year levels and especially the senior students as they complete their major projects for either the semester or year long projects. Year 7 students completed the manufacture of their Wooden Boxes and have moved on to a 3D Printing exercise. Year 8’s completed their Articulated Pendants made from a variety of metals and are now completing a Laser Cutting exercise. In the elective subjects, fantastic projects have either been taken home to happy recipients or are on display in the foyer of the STEM Centre. Year 8 Make it with Timber students completed their Chopping Boards and moved onto making Peg Racks. Year 8 Metal students completed a Copper Bowl with a variety of glazed finishes and moved onto Pewter Casting. Year 8 Textiles students completed their Soft Toys and Year 8 STEM Race Cars have been designed, built and raced. 

Our talented Year 9 Design students have completed amazing LED Lamps and moved on to Glass Mosaics (Resistant Materials), Sumobots (Digital), delightful Tote Bags (Textiles) and inspiring Welded Sculptures (Retro Metal). Fantastic Year 10 student work can be seen on display in the foyer. These pieces include Design Movement inspired Cabinets (Wood) and a variety of Welded Furniture pieces (Metal). 

Our VCE students have completed the manufacture of a variety of projects. Both Year 11 VCE and VCE VM students have designed and manufactured an ‘Inclusive Product’. These included specialized items such as jewellery boxes, coffee tables, ceramic pieces, clothing and children’s toys. After a long and intensive year, Year 12 students have finished their incredible ‘Ethical Considerations’ projects (on display in the STEM Centre) and Systems Engineering students have completed their ‘Electrotechnological Product’.
