Principal's Report

Farewell Class of 2025

Three weeks ago, we celebrated and farewelled our Class of 2025. This included their final whole school assembly and celebration day.

The graduating cohort is one of our largest ever, both in number and percentage of graduates. This is a terrific achievement given that Year 7 and 8 were heavily impacted by COVID related restrictions such as remote learning. Most of the students are now completing their exams and we look forward to finding out their destinations for 2026 and beyond.

Art Show

Our Annual Art show is running next week 17-19 November. This is a terrific opportunity for members of the school community to see some of the amazing work from our students across different Visual Art disciplines.

The election process involved a written application, interview, video and speeches and voting. I was incredibly impressed by all of the candidates and proud of their work to date contributing to our school community along with their plans for the future.

Booklists are now available via  https://order.campion.com.au/ and using code K9H8.

To assist families who wish to purchase second hand books, we have prepared this information available to view 2nd Hand booklist Information.

Overseas Adventures

Last month 16 students and 2 staff members completed a World Challenge adventure to Sri Lanka. Students took on a range of responsibilities, physical challenges, sight seeing and community projects. Hear more about the trip in the Senior School News.

The adventures don't finish there, with 20 students heading to Europe and our sister school in Lorch, Germany. Students will be staying with a host family and attend school followed by sight seeing in German, France and Italy.

Continued Success on the Sporting Field

Patterson River students have added to their collection of state titles in 2025 with recent wins in state athletics, AFL 9s and Ultimate Frisbee. See the Sport and EXCEL Sport pages for further details.

Did you know that AC/DCs first ever Victorian concert was in our Performing Arts Centre?

With AC/DC returning to Melbourne to play their Power Up Tour at the MCG this week we thought we’d share a fun fact — AC/DC’s first-ever concert in Victoria was held right here in our school hall (since upgraded and called the Performing Arts Centre)!

How did this happen?

Back in the 1970s, one of our former teachers, Ian Cranage, who taught at what was then Seaford-Carrum High School, used to run live music nights on Fridays called The SACHA Club. These events regularly attracted 250–300 local teenagers.

On one particular day, Michael Gudinski from Mushroom Records rang Mr Cranage to say that the main act had pulled out, but he’d send along a young band down from Sydney instead - "Oh, they're not bad, we'll put them on free of charge". That band was AC/DC!

Legend has it that the above photo was taken nearby in Seaford when the band spotted the High Voltage sign on their way to the school.
