Sports Report 

Southern Metro Region and State Athletics  

At Casey Fields on the 9th of October, the Patterson River Secondary College Athletics team competed in the Region Championships. We had a successful day, winning many medals and finishing 12th overall. Congratulations in particular go to Hannah K who won gold in Girls 12-13 High Jump, Lucy M who won gold in Girls 15 Year Olds Javelin Throw and Lochie F who won gold in Boys 18-20 1500m run. These 3 students went on to represent the school at the State Athletics Championships at Albert Park on October 20th. Hannah placed 5th, Lochie placed 4th and Lucy won gold again! Well done to these 3 amazing athletes!

Over two weekends of 25th - 26th October 2025 and 1st - 2nd November 2025, two competitors represented Patterson River Secondary College at the Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championships held at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park. 

Congratulations to Lachlan F in Year 12! Lachlan came first and is the Victorian State Champion in the Male U20 3000m Steeple Chase with a time of 10:28.08. Lachlan had an impressive run, pacing himself as he lead the race from the start with his opponent sitting on his shoulder for a majority of the race. Lachlan really broke away from his competitor in the last 800m of the race.  

Congratulations to Lucy M in Year 9! Lucy came second in the Female U16 Javelin final with a throw of 37.46m. It was a hot 30-degree afternoon when Lucy was competing in quite windy conditions.  

Both Lachlan and Lucy have proudly represented our college when competing and we are thrilled to have them join team Victoria when competing against Australia’s finest athletes at the Chemist Warehouse Australian All Schools Athletics Championships being held in Melbourne in December 2025. They are wonderful athletes and we wish them every success for the Athletics season. Good luck Lachlan and Lucy at nationals!
