Mr Phill Holding - Assistant Head of College – Students
Next week our Year 9 students head to Great Sandy National Park for their annual camp (Monday 7 – Thursday 10 September), where they will live and work alongside their House group for the week.
A few key reminders for families:
Departure – Monday 7 September: Students gather at the John Eales Grandstand at 8:00am and move directly to their House areas for roll call. Any medication should be handed to their camp leader at this point. Please note the College bus stop is a no-parking zone at this time, so boys may need to walk their gear from your usual drop-off spot.
Return – Thursday 10 September: Buses arrive back at approximately 2:30pm, and we ask that all boys are collected by 2:45pm. Any transport delays will be communicated via Parent Orbit. Friday 11 September is a recovery day at home for all Year 9 students.
Friday – 11 September: Recovery Day at home
Finally, a word of encouragement. I ask parents to urge their sons to throw themselves fully into the week ahead. Camp is education outside the classroom — the lessons learned carrying your own pack, cooking your own meals and pushing through challenge alongside your mates are ones no classroom can teach. Year 9 is a pivotal point in a young man's Marist journey, and the resilience, independence and brotherhood built at camp will serve our boys well as they step towards senior schooling.
Please ensure that you update and verify medical details and request special dietary requirements. If your son requires any medication to be dispensed whilst at camp, please complete the form that is available on Parent Orbit/Events and payments.
We look forward to hearing their stories on return.
Sample Senior House gear for our 2027 Graduating Year, is now available to try on in Student Administration and will soon be available for online ordering. Please ask your son to come and try on prior to the online purchase.
The Senior House gear is not a compulsory purchase and is a commemorative House item to celebrate their final year at Marist. Senior House gear is separate to the College 2026 Senior Jersey.
Our Year 11 Social will be held on Thursday 29 October at Waters Edge Weddings and Events Portside Wharf, Hamilton.
Level 2, 39 Hercules Street, Portside Wharf, Hamilton from 6.00 - 9.00pm
Tickets will be available for purchase next week.
