Lunchtime Talks – QUT, UQ and Police
Thank you to the representatives from Queensland University of Technology and University of Queensland who gave lunchtime talks at Marist last week. Students were given useful tips and tricks on scholarships and how to apply for them, and more general advice on university life and study.
Thank you to Sergeant Matthew Bach from Queensland Police, for taking time out of his day to share his personal experience and knowledge of careers in the police force, with our students. They certainly gained a lot from this fascinating discussion - thank you Sergeant Bach.
Year 11 Opportunity - Start QUT Program
High achieving Year 11 students wishing to study a university subject whilst in school, this program is for you: QUT - START QUT There are many subjects on offer, including a STEM intensive course during the Summer holidays, recommended as this does not clash with your school commitments, but there are also subjects on offer for Semester 1 and 2 next year. Year 10 Work experience
Work experience placements are now finalised for Year 10 students. A compulsory student induction is being held on Wednesday 2 September during Break 1. During the induction students will be provided with their Work Experience Agreement which is to be signed by all parties involved in the process – student, parent/guardian, provider and school. This agreement must be completed before a student can attend placement. If you have any questions related to work experience, please contact Ms Stabik or Ms Peacock in the VET and Careers office.

Brisbane Northwest Trade Training Centre – Expression of Interest 2027
Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services traineeship starting in February 2027.
Every road, bridge, stadium and new suburb starts with a surveyor. If you want Years 11 and 12 to count for something real, this traineeship puts you in the field with drones, laser scanners and 3D technology while you finish school.
You will graduate with up to 8 QCE credits, direct university entry and a career that will set you up for life. To be eligible for this program, you must study General English and General Mathematics or Maths Methods for 4 semesters and exit with a ‘C’ or better.
