Hello to all Clayton North Primary families and friends,

It is hard to believe that we have already reached the end of the 3rd week of Term 2! Much has already happened during the term and we are looking forward to the wonderful learning experiences that are planned for the weeks ahead!

Swimming

What a great way to kick off the term with swimming for our Foundation - Year 4 students. Our students represented our school exceptionally well during the program and had a wonderful time developing their skills and understanding of being safe in and around the water.

A huge team effort is required for a successful swimming program so thank you to Chris for his organisation of the program, the classroom teachers for ensuring the safety of your students whilst out of the school and to our ES staff for supporting staff and students during the program.

Education Week

Education Week is an annual celebration of public education in Victoria.

In 2026, Victoria celebrates Education Week from Monday 18 May to Friday 22 May.

The theme of 2026 Education Weekis Showcase your school, encouraging school communities to celebrate what’s great about their school. Leannder and Hourig will be leading our celebrations this year and we will provide families with information about what will be happening at CNPS, early next week

Pre-service teachers

Across the start of the term, we have a number of our staff mentoring pre-service teachers from Monash University. As a school, we continue to support pre-service teachers on their journey towards achieving their full teaching accreditation and are fortunate to be able to have an impact on their early teaching career. Currently we have Zoe, Molly and Veronica working in Foundation, Year 1/2 and 5/6. Please say hello and welcome them into our community.

The Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS)

The Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS) is an annual Department of Education survey that captures students’ attitudes to and experiences at government schools.

All government schools must participate in AtoSS, providing the opportunity for students from Year 4 to Year 12 to complete the survey. The survey provides data that helps the department understand student perspectives of their school and to improve the schooling experience.

Data collected includes how students feel in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.

We will be conducting the AtoSS with our Year 4-6 students between 27th May - 15th June. Further information will be provided to families in the coming weeks.

Premiers Reading Challenge

The Premiers Reading Challenge (PRC) is now well underway for 2026. Thank you to the families who are supporting their children by reading at home and logging their books on the PRC portal.

There is still plenty of time to get involved if you have not been logging the books your child reads at home.

If you require another copy of your child's login details, please contact the office.

Work Experience

Throughout the term, our school is hosting a number of Year 10 students from local secondary schools for their five-day work experience placement. These students are former CNPS students and it is pleasing to know that they have chosen to return to their primary school and that our school has helped shaped their interest in pursuing a career in education. We welcome them back into our school community!
