Dear Clayton North Primary School Community

Welcome to Term 2!

The 2025 Clayton North PS Annual Report was presented at school council last term. This is an opportunity for me to share this with families.

Our 2025 performance reflects a strong and positive trajectory across a number of key areas:

  • Learning:

Teacher judgements indicate high levels of student achievement, with 92.8% of students at or above expected standards in English and 90.4% in Mathematics—both significantly above similar schools and state averages.

NAPLAN results show solid performance in reading, and particularly strong Year 5 numeracy outcomes. Reading growth from Years 3 to 5 is a key strength, with 88.2% of students achieving medium or high growth.

  • Areas for focus:

Year 3 numeracy proficiency remains an area for continued improvement, with results below similar schools and state benchmarks. Numeracy growth will remain a key priority moving forward.

  • Wellbeing:

Student voice data is a highlight, with very strong endorsement in sense of connectedness (90.2%) and management of bullying (90.3%), both well above similar schools and state averages. This reflects a positive, inclusive and supportive school culture.

  • Engagement:

Student attendance remains broadly in line with state averages, with an average of 22.3 absence days per student. Continued focus on attendance and engagement will support improved learning continuity.

  • Staff and Parent Opinion:

Parent satisfaction remains strong at 86%, comparable with similar schools. Staff climate data (65.6%) indicates an opportunity to further strengthen staff engagement and collective efficacy, which is being addressed through ongoing leadership development and collaborative practices.

Overall, the school is performing strongly in student learning and wellbeing, with clear next steps identified in teaching and learning and staff climate.

Uniform

As we begin Term 2 and head into Autumn and Winter, the school expectation is that students wear the winter uniform – track pants, pinafores & t-shirt, skort & t-shirt, school jumper and school jacket. The school dress is not part of the winter uniform items. We seek parents’ support in ensuring that children are dressed warmly and in the correct gear.

The new fleece jacket is available online and in-store at PSW, offering appropriate warmth during Melbourne’s winter months.
