YEAR 10 CAS CALCULATOR requirement for Maths
This year the Year 10’s are required to have a CAS calculator for Maths, specifically the Texas Instruments Inspire Calculator CXII-CAS.
This was an item on the student booklist for 2026.
Students will need this for tests and exams for maths subjects this year and for VCE as well. As they are ~$250 you don't have to buy a new one, you can get them second hand on Facebook marketplace or gumtree. They range from $60 upward on there, otherwise Officeworks is the cheapest place to get them brand new. You can have either the 'Texas Instruments Inspire Calculator CXII-CAS' (the blue one) or the 'Texas Instruments Inspire Calculator CX-CAS' (the grey one - this is the older version of it and the only difference is its processing power).
Teachers are not expected to have knowledge of the CASIO calculator so please do not buy this calculator. At Highvale we specifically teach students how to use the Texas Instruments Inspire Calculator CXII-CAS.
Thank you to the students that have purchased this item to date.
