Important Reminders

Roslyn PATTI
Assistant Principal
Welcome to the 2026 school year and a warm welcome to the families new to our Highvale community.
It has been wonderful to see our students return, bringing with them a sense of excitement and anticipation. Our staggered start supported Year 7 students in settling into their new environment, and it was great to see all VCE students arrive ready to begin the year with enthusiasm and a positive vibe.
I was fortunate to attend the Year 12 three-day Study Camp at Newman College at University of Melbourne. The camp offered a variety of sessions centred on Year 12 preparation, career and pathway planning, self-awareness and personal management, goal setting, and team building. We also participated in an engaging and insightful session with Sonya on safe partying. The Study Camp was an ideal way for students to begin their final year together, setting a strong foundation as they prepare for the year ahead while building focus, confidence, and a sense of camaraderie.
Our Year 7 students participated in a transition program during the first three days of the school year. This program played an important role in helping students feel settled, supported, and confident as they began their secondary school journey. Congratulations to all Year 7 students for their enthusiastic participation and for embracing their new school community with such positivity.
School uniform
The beginning of the school year is an important time to re-establish expectations around uniform and personal presentation. Students may wear either the Winter or Summer uniform. Full uniform requirements are outlined in the Student Diary/Planner.
As we continue through a transition period between the old and new uniforms, it remains important that students wear their uniform correctly and with pride. Please ensure your child arrives at school wearing the correct uniform. Only polished black lace-up school shoes are permitted for all students (black runners are not acceptable). Only plain white socks without logos are permitted. For safety reasons, hoop earrings and long nails are not permitted.
Students are only allowed to wear their PE uniform on the day they have Physical Education classes. It is also recommended that students wear a hat during these lessons. On all other days, students are expected to wear their academic uniform.
Please note that our uniform supplier is now PSW located at 342-350 Springvale Rd, Glen Waverley VIC 3150.
Personal Property at School
Families are reminded that personal items brought to school by students, staff, or visitors are not insured. As the Department of Education cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage, we kindly ask families to discourage students from bringing unnecessary or valuable items to school.
Parental Communication
The College communicates with families primarily through our Compass portal. If you need to get in touch regarding your child, your first point of contact should be your child’s teacher. If needed, you may also contact the Junior or Senior School Coordinator’s office.
In line with the Federal Government’s Right to Disconnect legislation, we ask families to understand that responses may not be immediate, particularly if messages are sent outside college hours. Our policy ensures that all communications will be responded to within two working days.
Thank you for your continued support and for being such an important part of the Highvale community. Together, let’s make 2026 a year full of curiosity, achievement, and connection.
