Consent for School Events on COMPASS

Evan MILLER
Principal
Dear students, parents, carers and guardians,
To support student safety and improve our planning processes, we are implementing a more consistent parent consent policy for all school events and activities.
To help us plan effectively and ensure we meet our duty of care requirements, consent must be provided through Compass by the cut-off date for any school event. This will allow staff adequate time to plan and prepare for the event, including organising staffing, transport, medical considerations, and emergency procedures. We will be applying this expectation consistently across the school, and it is important that families understand there is no flexibility beyond the cut-off time. A link to
If you experience any difficulties accessing Compass, please email highvale.sc@education.vic.gov.au before the cut-off date. If a deadline is missed, please note that staff cannot enter consent or payment in Compass on your behalf after the cut-off date.
Providing consent through Compass is essential, as it ensures we have an accurate and official record. Verbal consent cannot be accepted because it does not provide sufficient documentation should an incident occur.
Please note: our first major whole school event is our swimming sports next Tuesday 24th February. As this is a whole school event, there will be no scheduled classes or program for students on the day as the majority of our staff will be supporting and supervising students at the pool. If students have not been given consent and arrive at school, parents will be called to pick them up. It is an expectation that all students attend our swimming carnival and we have many out of pool activities planned for the day to complement our swimming events. If you have not yet consented for your child to attend swimming sports, please do so asap.
Thank you for your understanding and for supporting us in keeping our events safe, well organised and rewarding for all students. Your cooperation makes a difference.
