Sport in Term 2
Term 2 has been another fantastic season of BAS sport, with strong participation across a wide range of activities. It has been wonderful to see so many students taking the opportunity to represent the school and engage in sport beyond the classroom.
Our senior volleyball team showed excellent commitment throughout the season, culminating in an exciting win in the last game of the season, while our Year 7–12 badminton players consistently demonstrated great effort and sportsmanship each week. At the junior level, hockey 'come and try' sessions provided a fun and inclusive introduction to the sport and were a great success in encouraging new participation.
Netball continued to be a real strength, with two Year 9 teams and six junior (Year 7–8) teams competing each week. It’s been a massive term of netball which will continue into Term 3 with Loreto taking 6 teams to the State School Championships in July. We also fielded two junior soccer teams and an intermediate basketball team, both of which displayed strong resilience and had a lot of fun in their respective sports.
Regardless of results, all students involved gave 100% each week, and their effort, attitude, and willingness to represent the school should be commended. I would also like to sincerely thank our coaches and support staff, whose time, energy, and commitment make our BAS program possible and ensure such positive experiences for our students.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our students who have stepped into umpiring roles this term including Evie, Emma, Grace, Sadie, Ivy, Charlotte, Olivia, Peggy, Lily and Isla.

Bundoora XCR All Schools Cross Country Championships
On 21 June, our team of 28 runners tackled the Bundoora Park cross-country course for the XCR All Schools Cross Country Championship. All Loreto runners demonstrated exceptional grit in the tough and very wet conditions.
A special mention must go to our U14 team, who came away with a silver medal.
In addition, we had several runners who individually placed in the top 10 in their respective divisions, with several of these athletes qualifying for selection for the Victorian team at the Australian Cross Country Championships here in Ballarat in August.
Well done to all involved!
