VCE Theatre Studies

Unit 1 Theatre Studies students produced an outstanding night of entertainment, performing Moliere's farce 'The Trick's of Scapin' on the evening of 21 May. The students directed, designed sets, costume, props, makeup/hair, lighting and sound. The play posed a number of OH&S risks with characters being beaten, swords flailing about and with many fast entrances and exits and the students carefully problem solved each issue. Students learned to plot and program lighting desks as well as how to edit sounds on multichannel mixers and plot in QLab. Numerous visits to BLOC costume hire were made to source just the right period Italian styled costume.

On the night the students channelled all their energy into their over-the-top characters, wailing about losing money, falling deeply in love and discovering long lost relatives often at a moments notice. The appreciative audience chortled their way through a fantastic evening of entertainment, which proved Loreto students love a good challenge and always rise to the occasion with confidence! Congratulations to all.

Visual Arts

This term, our Year 7 students have been exploring positive and negative space by creating these beautiful and mesmerising paper artworks. Students investigated contrast, balance and shape as they thoughtfully cut out and arranged their compositions. 

Some of our Year 9 3D Art students got creative, making paper as they finalised their slab-built ceramic pieces with intricate underglaze designs. Lots of messy hands were hard at work! They also made some beautiful papier-mache vases that were on display throughout the College.
