House Performance
Congratulations to all the House Captains on delivering another successful HOUSE Performing Arts Event. Two hours of non stop music dance and drama and lots of colour. Our adjudicator this year was Ms Nina Selover, a former student from MGSC. Throughout her time at high school, she was avidly involved in the music and performance departments, ( appearing as the lead role of Corey Palmer Jr in Mentone Girls Secondary College’s 2014 production of Back to the 80s)!
A passionate musical theatre performer, Nina has appeared in productions including The Wedding Singer (Julia Gulia), Kiss of the Spider Woman (Aurora), Nine (Saraghina), and The Little Mermaid (Ursula). Alongside theatre, she grew up learning guitar, piano, cello and voice, including vocal lessons with Ms Blanka West.
She currently works in marketing at Stage School Australia, primarily in videography, creating large scale creative campaigns and working across theatre and live events, including collaborations with Nova 100, all the major TV networks, Netflix and Stan, as well as events at venues such as the Regent Theatre, Hamer Hall and the NGV.
Final results:
Dance - Verity Gouge, Jackson
Instrumental/Vocal:Tara Haigh, Kenny
Massed item with a drama lead in: Mackellar

VCE Music Recital #1
Congratulations to all students in the VCE Music Performance class who performed at our first recital on Thursday evening. The program featured a wide variety of instruments and musical styles, providing valuable performance experience as students prepare for the Unit 2 recital and Unit 4 exams in October.
As part of the assessment, students present a 20-minute program to two examiners, focusing on a polished performance of contrasting works. Programs are individually designed in consultation with their teachers, allowing students to showcase their strengths through solo and/or group performances.
The new VCE Music study design offers considerable flexibility, enabling students on any instrument or voice, and across a wide range of musical styles, to create a program that reflects their personal interests and abilities.
This is not just a musical instrument
