Wellbeing Matters

As Term 2 comes to a close, we’ll be using this edition of the newsletter to explore what events to keep your eye out for not only at MGSC but out in the community.

MGSC Wellbeing events in Term 3

International Day of Friendship – Thursday 30 July

The International Day of Friendship is celebrated around the world to commemorate the special love between friends and the strength and power of their friendship. Students are encouraged to wear a ‘touch of orange’ (e.g. orange accessories) to school.

Join Wellbeing at lunchtime for friendship bracelet making, learning how to make new friends, and treats to share!

Wear it Purple – Friday 28 August

On Wear it Purple Day, schools and communities across the country wear purple to recognise LGBTQIA+ young people everywhere and help foster more inclusive environments for them. Students are invited to wear some purple on this day.

Join Wellbeing and Kingston Youth Services for lunchtime activities to celebrate and spread awareness.

RUOK – Friday 11 September

We’re coming together again this year to ask “R U OK?”, reminding everyone that’s it’s important to check in on your mates. Join Wellbeing and headspace at lunchtime to join in on some yellow-themed fun, learn how to ask the question and help spread the word!

Kingston Youth Voice – Have your Say!

City of Kingston’s Youth Voice working group provides a platform for young people to share their experiences, ideas and views to influence proje

cts, policies and actions to drive positive change within Kingston’s local community.

Young people hold unique and valuable insights, knowledge and skills that can contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of services, policies, programs and spaces, impacting the local community.

Youth Voice provides a fantastic opportunity to:

  • Make a real difference. Heard are your ideas by decision-makers. This will directly influence policies that impact young people in Kingston.
  • Develop leadership and advocacy skills. Through meeting participation, you will gain experience in public speaking, collaboration, and advocacy.
  • Learn about local government. Gain firsthand knowledge of how local government works. Learn about the youth services available in Kingston and surrounding areas.
  • Collaborate with other young leaders. Connect with young people who share your desire to make Kingston a better place for young people.
  •

The next Youth Voice working group meeting is June 25th at 5pm at Platform 81. Young people aged 12-17 are welcome to apply to join the working group by filling in the form on this webpage:
