Co-Curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

Over the past few weeks, the Junior School Athletics Squad have been getting up early to train and prepare for competition. At the end of last week, the boys competed in two consecutive carnivals, the BPSSA Carnival last Friday and the IPSHA Boys Invitational on Saturday. This was a really challenging task, particularly for our distance runners. Nevertheless, the boys put in outstanding effort and came away from both carnivals with a swag of ribbons. Special mention to Liam D of Year 6 for jumping a personal best of 1.51m in the high jump and to our senior relay team of Marco D, Romeo M, Charlie C, and Ari I. The boys have improved significantly and took out their relay by a margin of over 8m. All signs look good for the IPSA Carnival on Wednesday 26 August. I know you will all join me in wishing the boys luck.
With many sports now in the thick of their representative seasons, the Junior School has two more representatives making their mark in a CIS team. We wish Isaiah A and Atticus H all the best as they play touch football this week in Coffs Harbour. We look forward to hearing about your experiences and wish you all the best. Good luck boys!
Junior School Sport Photos
There are a number of events coming up at the end of this term. Last Tuesday, we had co-curricular photos taken in the Hall. The Junior School sport photos will also take place in the Hall on Monday 21 September (Week 10). For these photos, all boys will need to be dressed in their playing uniform. It should be washed and ironed ready to go. Please note that shin pads (football and softball), head gear (AFL and rugby), and mouth guards are not required. All boys in the Cross Country, Swimming and Athletics squads will have photos taken in their black supporter’s uniform. Boys that made IPSHA, CIS or NSW representation will also have their photos taken. Boys should wear their representative uniform for these photos. If they don’t have any, the photo will be taken in their black supporter’s polo.
Junior School Winter Presentation Evening
The Junior School Winter Sport Presentation Evening will be held on Friday 11 September (Week 8) in the Gymnasium. All boys who played winter sport are expected to be in attendance (a compulsory event) and to sit with their teams. Parents/carers are asked to sit behind the boys in the seating provided. The night is scheduled for a 5:30 PM start and we would like to start promptly at this time. On the night we will celebrate the achievements of undefeated teams and representative teams, as well as individual performances. Boys are to wear their full winter uniform; however, the blue cap is not required. I look forward to seeing you all there. Please note that individual representative awards and Junior School Sportsman of the Year will be presented at the summer presentation night in late Term 4.
I hope that everyone takes advantage of the lull in activity for the remainder of the term, using your time to relax, repair and reacquaint with family.
