Outstanding Achievement Across Co-Curricular Life
This week has been a wonderful celebration of the breadth and strength of co-curricular life at St Patrick’s College. Across sport, debating and the performing arts, our students have again demonstrated the value of commitment, teamwork, preparation and pride in representing the College.
It was a fantastic day of football for St Patrick’s College on Grand Final Day, with an incredible 11 SPC teams winning their respective divisions in the ISA competitions. This is a tremendous achievement for our students, coaches and the entire SPC Football program, and a fitting way to conclude an outstanding season. Congratulations to Mr Falzon, Head of Football, and to all members of his team who have worked so hard in supporting, coaching and strengthening the program throughout the year.
To accompany these victories, the College also retained both the First XI Shield and the Overall Football School Championship Shield, highlighting the depth, consistency and quality of the program across all age groups.
Our Debating program also enjoyed an outstanding achievement, taking out the CSDA Senior Aggregate Championship. This result reflects the skill, confidence and preparation of our students, as well as the dedication of the staff and coaches who continue to support them. Thank you to Mrs Cesarano, Debating MIC, for her outstanding leadership of the program. The Debating Presentation Night held last week was a wonderful celebration of the season, made even more memorable by the surprise victory to the staff in the staff versus students debate on the topic, “Do pigeons deserve more respect?”
The Music Showcase provided an impressive night of talent, with ensembles, choirs, bands, orchestras and drumlines performing with energy, precision and confidence. The quality of the performances was a clear reflection of the hard work, rehearsal, discipline and commitment of our students and staff. A sincere thank you to Dr Taylor for his talents in directing, supporting and guiding the students within the Music program. It was a powerful reminder of the way persistence and teamwork can produce moments of genuine excellence on stage.

With the winter season drawing to a close, attention now turns to athletics. The Senior School Athletics season begins with the first invitational carnival this weekend, while the Junior School Athletics Squad continues to perform well and will attend the IPSHA Carnival on Wednesday 26 August.
Families are also reminded of several important Week 8 presentation nights: Chess on Tuesday 8 September, Football on Wednesday 9 September, and Rugby and Tennis on Thursday 10 September. The Junior School Winter Presentation will be held on Friday 11 September, with Junior School sport photos for summer, winter, squads and representative groups taking place on 21 September.
Congratulations to all students involved across these programs. Whether on the field, at the lectern or on the stage, our students have represented the College with pride and have shown what can be achieved through hard work, commitment and a willingness to contribute fully to the life of St Patrick’s College.

A Night of Musical Celebration
It was truly amazing to see so many of our students come together to celebrate their love of music at the 2026 Co-Curricular Music Showcase.
The evening was filled with energy, excitement and, most importantly, the joy of making music together. Seeing our students take to the stage with confidence, support one another and perform for our community was a real highlight.
Each ensemble brought its own unique sound and personality to the evening. Together, they showcased the creativity, teamwork and spirit that make our Music community so special. Through rehearsals and performances, our students develop not only their musical skills, but also confidence, friendships and a strong sense of belonging.
We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated tutors and staff for the time, care and encouragement they give our students throughout the year. Your passion and commitment play an important role in helping our young musicians grow and flourish.
A very special thank you to our Principal, Dr Vittoria Lavorato, for her continued encouragement, trust and support of the SPC Music Program. Her strong belief in the value of Music and the Arts provides our students with opportunities to develop their talents, confidence and creativity.
We also thank our wonderful parents and carers for your ongoing support. Whether through encouraging practice, managing busy schedules or simply being there on the night, your support helps make these experiences possible.

We would also like to give a very special congratulations to our inaugural 2026 student music leaders:

Orchestra Leader: Owen L
These new leadership positions recognise students who demonstrate not only a high level of musical commitment, but also responsibility, initiative and a willingness to support and encourage the musicians around them. Alexander and Owen have each made an outstanding contribution to their respective ensembles, and we are delighted to recognise them as the first students to hold these important roles.
Their appointments also mark the beginning of an exciting development within the Co-Curricular Music Program. We hope to expand student leadership opportunities in the years ahead, including the introduction of similar leadership roles within our Concert, Symphonic and Jazz bands. These positions will give our senior musicians greater opportunities to lead by example, mentor younger players and contribute to the musical life and culture of their ensembles.
Most importantly, congratulations to all of our students who performed! Your preparation, dedication and enthusiasm were fantastic. You should be very proud of your achievements and of the way you represented St Patrick’s College.
A big thank you to the entire SPC Music community — our students, tutors, staff, families and supporters — for helping make the evening such a memorable celebration.
We look forward to continuing this wonderful musical journey together and celebrating many more musical moments in the future.
