Student Leader Reports

That’s a wrap on Term 1. Well done to everyone for making it through a fantastic start to the year!

We ended the term on a high with our annual Athletics Carnival, and the weather did not disappoint, bringing sunshine throughout the entire day. A wide range of track and field events ran from start to finish, keeping the energy levels high and the competition strong.

The day kicked off with the much-anticipated Year 12 parade, where students showcased their creativity with some amazing costumes. From there, the track was busy all day, with plenty of close, nail-biting races that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

One of the standout highlights was the relay events. Early in the day, the Year 12s took on the staff in a tightly contested race, narrowly securing the win. The carnival wrapped up with the year level relays, which delivered some incredibly close finishes and a great sense of team spirit.

Our VM students kept everyone fuelled throughout the day, cooking sausages and serving popcorn. A huge thank you to them for their efforts.

Congratulations to all students who participated, whether competing or supporting. A special congratulations to Ricketts, who were crowned overall Athletics Carnival champions for 2026. Their consistent effort and enthusiasm across the day truly paid off.

Beyond the competition, the carnival was filled with colour, excitement, and school pride. It was fantastic to see students supporting their houses through cheering, costumes, and encouragement, creating such a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Easter holiday and is excited to come back for Term 2!

Sport Leader's Report

On Monday 30 March, we had our annual house athletics carnival. This year, at a new venue, the Sandringham Athletics Track, it was a huge success. The day ran well, with our Year 12s doing their lap in their costumes to kick off their final house athletics carnival before getting into our sprints, where the Year 7s started off the day with their first races at the college.

There were a lot of incredible individual performances from students across all year levels. There was also a lot going on for students who didn’t want to race, with karaoke and face painting. Our vortex throw was another popular novelty event, while there were also volleyball and pickleball behind the back straight, which were very popular. The sausage sizzle and canteen were also very popular, with lots of students enjoying them. Overall, it was an incredibly successful day where students of all athletic abilities were able to have a lot of fun.

We have also recently had divisional swimming and an unbelievable result finishing 2nd across all schools on the day, with 10 students going to South Metro Regionals to represent the school. Special congratulations to – Year 7, Eve – Year 12, Keegan – Year 11 and Louis – Year 10, who were all crowned age group champions.
