Faith in Action in our School community

During Lent, our school community is proud to support Caritas Australia through the Project Compassion campaign.
Access to clean, safe water is something many of us take for granted. Yet for millions of people around the world, clean water is not readily available. Children and families often walk several kilometres each day to collect water for drinking, cooking and washing. This daily journey can prevent children from attending school and limits opportunities for education and employment.
Individual Challenge: “The Long Walk” at CCC
Staff and students are invited to take part in a personal Lenten walking challenge, aiming to complete 5km in total. You may walk 5km at once, 1km each day for a week for 5 weeks or 5km across a weekend. Choose any option that suits you and commit to the journey.
This Water Walk initiative is a powerful way for our school community to stand in solidarity with communities who face this reality every day. Inspired by Caritas Australia’s mission, this initiative invites both students and staff to experience, reflect and act. Through this challenge, we gain a deeper understanding of global inequality while living out the Gospel call to compassion and justice.
Staff and students are encouraged to:
- Seek sponsorship from family and friends to raise funds for Project Compassion
- Log their walk and track their progress
- Reflect on their experience in Religious Education
Walking In Solidarity
This initiative fosters personal commitment, empathy and gratitude. Through taking part in this symbolic experience, staff and students move from simple awareness to meaningful action, acknowledging the dignity of every person and responding with generosity. The Water Walk is not just a challenge; it is a powerful opportunity for our entire school community to deepen their understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, grow in compassion, and make a real and practical difference in the lives of others.
