Secondary School Update

As we reach the midpoint of the term, I am delighted to share the many exciting events and achievements that have taken place across our secondary school. It has been a busy and inspiring period for students and staff alike, showcasing both their talents and their curiosity across many areas of school life.

The sporting calendar has been busy and our students have represented the school with energy and enthusiasm. The interschool volleyball competition brought together teams from across the region, providing not only competitive opportunities but also fostering teamwork and school spirit. Similarly, our Division Swimming participants demonstrated remarkable dedication and skill in the pool, proudly representing our school.

Academically and creatively, our Year 10 students participated in the Shark Tank incursion, exploring the world of entrepreneurship and business. This hands-on experience challenged students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and present innovative ideas, offering a practical insight into the dynamics of the business world.  Some exciting excursions the past week have seen the VCE Physics students visit Luna Park to explore the principles of motion and forces in a real-world context, while VCE Biology students attended the KIOSC Maritime Training Centre, gaining valuable practical experience that complements their studies in the life sciences.

The College is thrilled to have elected our Secondary Leadership Team for 2026. These students, nominated and voted for by their peers and staff, will play a vital role in guiding and inspiring their peers and contributing to the life of our school through leadership, service, and advocacy. This will include the team writing an article embracing the student voice in all future newsletters about what they have been working on in our school community. More can be seen about the student leaders in this edition.

As always, I am incredibly proud of our students’ achievements and grateful for the commitment of our wondering teaching and support staff in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment each and every day.  Together we continue to support our students to take ownership of their learning and contribute to our school and wider community.

Upcoming events in Term 1:

  • Intermediate & Senior Volleyball
  • Years 10-12 Career Expo
  • Harmony Day
  • Lakeside College 20th Birthday

May god grant us continued energy, curiosity, and accomplishments that will carry us through the remainder of the term.

Mrs Amanda Trewin - Head of Secondary School.
