Pastoral Care Day

On Thursday 20 February, our Year 9, 10 and 11 students stepped away from their usual timetable to take part in a special day focused on wellbeing, connection and community — an important part of our pastoral care program.

Students participated in workshops led by ‘The Man Cave’ and ‘The Big Sister Experience’, two highly respected organisations that work with schools across Australia to support young people as they navigate the opportunities and challenges of adolescence. We feel very fortunate to partner with such experienced facilitators. Their sessions created a safe and engaging space for students to reflect on identity, relationships, resilience, and the importance of supporting one another.

Throughout the day, there were many thoughtful conversations, moments of laughter, and opportunities for students to connect with their peers in meaningful ways. It was wonderful to see students engaging so openly and positively with the activities. The presenters also commented on the warm culture they experienced at our school, noting the genuine respect and care shown by staff towards students, as well as the high regard and affection students clearly have for one another.

Our Year 11 students also brought a wonderful spirit of service to the day by organising a pizza fundraiser and a free dress day in support of Australian Lutheran World Service. The pizza sale raised $180, while the free dress day raised $125, bringing the total to $305 for this important cause.

It was a warm and uplifting day that our students clearly enjoyed. Experiences like these are a valuable reminder that our school is not only a place for learning, but also a community where young people are encouraged to grow in confidence, compassion, and care for others.
