👷VET Pathways & WPL

VET/WPL NEWS

All applications for VET in 2026 have now been offered, you should have received an email with the news! With over 5,000 students applying across WA this year, it’s been super competitive so many of our students have missed out. TAFE shared that students with solid grades and hands-on work experience really stood out. Over the next few months, things will start falling into place, and we’re hopeful that even more of you will lock in your next steps.

Next year’s shaping up to be pretty exciting! We’ve got students heading into all sorts of areas—Electrical, Carpentry, Automotive, Nursing, Education Support, Civil Construction, Autonomous Workplace Operations, Marine Biology and TV/Film. We love seeing the variety and can’t wait to support you as you chase your goals!

I&E – WESBEAM VISIT

Our I&E students recently had the chance to visit WesBeam in Neerabup, thanks to support from the Food, Fibre & Timber industry group who coordinated the excursion. It was an awesome opportunity to see how engineered timber products are made on a large scale. Walking through the factory, students got a real sense of how the industry operates—from raw materials to high-tech machinery and everything in between. It was a great way to connect what they’ve learned in class to real-world careers.

This visit wrapped up a big year of hands-on learning and new experiences for the I&E students. From developing practical skills to exploring different industries, the students have shown enthusiasm, respect, and determination. I look forward to visiting the boys on their last work experience.

SKYCAREERS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

As Career Practitioners, it’s important we stay up to date with the latest trends and opportunities available to our students. This term we had the awesome opportunity to attend a professional development day with SkyCareers at Jandakot Airport.

From stepping onto the tarmac to chatting with pilots, Royal Flying Doctors  and aviation experts, it was a hands-on, eye-opening experience into the world of aerospace careers. We explored flight simulators, toured hangars, and learned about the wide range of pathways available in aviation—from engineering and air traffic control to drone tech and airport operations. It was a fantastic day that gave us fresh ideas and inspiration to bring back to our students!
