Year 7s and 8s Bring Ideas to Life with 3D Printing

Innovation in Action!

Students in Year 7 have been busy combining creativity, technology and faith in an exciting cross-curricular project between Religious Education and Design Technology. After researching different crosses, symbols and their meanings during RE lessons, the students then designed their own unique crosses using Fusion 360 software in their Materials lessons. Their designs were then brought to life on the school’s 3D printers, turning digital drawings into real, tangible creations.

Building on this enthusiasm, a brand-new 3D Printing Club was launched for Year 7 students. Club members are taking on the current Year 8 project, designing and building battery-powered vehicles based around a fixed-size body. The Year 7s are close to completing their designs and the Year 8 students have impressed with their complex and creative vehicle designs, adding finishing touches with custom-made stickers for extra detail.
