Health & PE

This week in Health and PE we explored more ways to keep ourselves healthy and how each way helps, including physical activity which improves sleep, strengthens bodies, builds relationships, promotes concentration and enhances social wellbeing, eating healthy food which helps fight illness, provides us with energy to think and be active and strengthens our body, and drinking water which hydrates our body, helps us concentrate, replaces sweat lost and prevents dehydration. Looking forward to discussing more ways we can keep ourselves healthy this term!
During our Physical Activity sessions, students in Grade 2-6 enjoyed engaging in fun warm ups focused on team work, along with netball focused skills, including passing, catching, pivoting and shooting and of course more team work. It was great to observe the support our students provide one another! We will continue with this netball skills focus next week, before diving into AFL skills and then basketball skills.
Students in Grade F/1 this week engaged in whole group, small group and partner activities and games to focus on further developing some fundamental motor skills including throw, catch, run, jump and dodge. Our junior students continue to demonstrate amazing teamwork and support for each other, along with great focus and a determination to try their best and develop their skills! It was fun learning some more tabloid sports games in preparation for our District Tabloid Sports Day next term. We will continue learning these in the lead up to the event.
Our Grade 5/6 students enjoyed a hockey clinic this week run by Hockey Victoria. Thank you to Aaron who ran a very engaging and fun clinic with our students. We seem to have some future hockey champions among us!
