Foundation & Grade 1

As part of our transition into 2026, we have been busily building relationships with our Grade 5 and 6 buddies.

In the last fortnight, we have been lucky enough to see our buddies for lots of different activities!

To celebrate the beginning of Lent, our buddies taught us to make Shrove Tuesday chatterboxes and paper pancakes. Afterwards, we spent our eating time together, with a picnic of delicious pancakes!

Our buddies also taught us how we can lend a hand in the vegetable gardens, taking us outside to pull weeds, water plants, and feast on plums and nashi pears.

In our classroom, we have been busily establishing key routines and expectations. Our main focus has been on building stamina throughout the day, as we approach our first full week for our Foundation students.

In Literacy, we have been working hard on our handwriting. Perfecting our letter positioning and formation. We have continued to explore and borrow picture books from the library, and will soon have readers to explore with our families after school.

Over the next two weeks, children will begin to participate in weekly ‘Show & Tell’. This will help us to build our oral language, and to build confidence before we host our first assembly!

I will send out the roster and topics to you all, via email and Seesaw before Monday.

In Numeracy, the children have been learning the characteristics of 2D shapes. And will continue this work for the next few weeks.

Congratulations to you all - we are officially half way through Term 1!

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out should you need anything.
