Chess Mates in 2026 

We are thrilled to announce a fantastic new after-school sport opportunity coming to Modbury School in Term 1, 2026! The Governing Council discussed this opportunity at our recent meeting and is excited to be able to offer extra-curricular opportunities for our students. 

Chess Mates will be running engaging chess sessions every Wednesday from 3:05 pm to 4:05 pm in the STEM Room, open to all students from Reception to Year 6. As this is an after-school sport activity, this will not be supervised by school staff, and parents will be expected to stay and support the supervision of their child/ren. 

Chess Mates is a fun and interactive way for students to develop their creativity, concentration, problem-solving skills, and teamwork, while enjoying the excitement of strategic play.
