From the Leadership Team

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to Term 4 at Modbury School P-6! The energy across our classrooms and playgrounds is so inspiring as we see students and staff fully immersed in learning and school life. With a range of exciting programs, engaging lessons, and special events underway, there is a wonderful sense of enthusiasm and achievement as we head toward the end of the year. We encourage all our students, staff, and families to keep up the fantastic work, embrace every opportunity, and finish 2025 on a high note together!
Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day, observed on the 11th of November each year, is a significant occasion in Australian history. It is a time to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by Australian servicemen and women in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. At 11 am, we observe a minute’s silence to honour their memory and to acknowledge the contributions they made to our country and its values. Remembrance Day helps our community, especially our students, appreciate the importance of peace, freedom, and the responsibilities we all share to remember and respect those who served Australia.
Library Update
We’re excited to share that our library has been undergoing a refresh to make space for a fantastic range of new and current books for our students to enjoy.
A huge thank you goes to Alanna and our wonderful SSO Team for their incredible efforts on the recent pupil-free day—organising, sorting, and updating our library resources.
We are also extremely grateful to Surrey Downs Primary School for their generosity in donating books to add to our collection. As part of our library reorganisation, we now have a large selection of deleted books that are looking for a new home! Families are warmly invited to come in and pick up a bag of books in exchange for a gold coin donation. Your support helps us continue to provide exciting reading opportunities for all our students!
Congratulations to our Preschool and OSHC
We recently had a Pre-Assessment and Monitoring visit from the Education Standards Board for our Preschool and OSHC. The feedback from the Regulatory Officer was extremely positive, commending the high quality of our practices, the dedication of our staff, and our commitment to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for all children.
Thank you to our amazing educators, staff, students, and families for your continued support and contribution to our strong and positive learning community. These results reflect the collective effort and passion within Modbury School to ensure the best outcomes for every child.
Pupil Free Day
Our recent Pupil Free Day looked at our 2026 Site Learning Plan directions and the Department for Education's Strategy for Public Education. It was a busy day discussing our school context and developing the best learning opportunities for our students. We are looking forward to continuing our discussion around the Strategy for Public Education.
Pupil Free Day - Preschool only
The Preschool recently engaged in their Pupil Free Day, looking at the Exceeding Themes in our Preschool, in relation to the National Quality Standards. Our team spent time discussing our focus for our 2026 Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and revisiting our Statement of Philosophy.
Transition Visits
We are looking forward to welcoming our new 2026 Preschool and Reception children on their transition visits. These visits are a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to become familiar with their new environment, meet our staff, and make new friends.
We are excited to welcome them into our school community and support them as they embark on this exciting journey. Our dedicated staff are committed to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable transition for every child. We can't wait to see their smiling faces and share in their enthusiasm for learning.
End of Year Concert
Save the date - Tuesday, Week 7 - 25/11 is our End of Year Concert and our 2025 theme is 'Music through the Decades'. More information regarding the End of Year Concert was sent out this week via EdSmart to your email account. Thank you to our staff who have already begun working on this event. Please keep an eye out for your Class Dojo to find out what your child may require for their costumes etc.
End of Year Fundraising
It's time to return your raffle books and your fundraising money for our school. Thank you to our families for supporting our raffle, and we look forward to this popular event at our End of Year Concert.
Reporting Student Absences
We kindly remind families to please notify the school of any student absences before 9:30 am wherever possible. Absences can be reported by calling the front office or by communicating with your child’s classroom teacher via Class Dojo.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain accurate attendance records and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
