A Celebration of Science and Nature

Congratulations to Aaron, Luke and Keerat for their amazing entries in the 2025 STEM Reading and Design Challenge 

We are so proud of our Modbury students - Aaron, Luke and Keerat for their wonderful STEM designs and being winners of the 2025 STEM Reading and Design Challenge. The Department for Education has partnered with Green Adelaide to create an opportunity for students to develop sustainable understandings through reading and nature. 

 

The competition involved reading a book on one of the 4 themes (from the Premier's Reading Challenge booklist) 

  • STEM (any Science, technology, Engineering and Maths book)
  • Nature in South Australia (such as plants, animals, bushland, rivers, beaches, parks and gardens)
  • Space (such as human spaceflight, the planets and the universe, satellites, space travel and astronomy)
  • Renewable Energy (a book about renewable energy - from our sun and wind - that can be used to create power)

 

Year Level Category Projects

R-2 create - draw a picture in response to the book read

3 to 5 create - plan an invention (description, drawing) inspired by the book read

6 to 9 create - design a STEM poster, related to the book read, to inspire interest in science-related fields
