Important information | Senior School Swim Trials

Just a quick splash of a reminder – the 2025 SMC Swim Trials are happening this Friday 1 August, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre. 

 

Whether you're aiming for one event or all four, this is your chance to show your speed and skill in the pool! 

 

Enter now: 2025 SMC Swim Trials Entry Form

Event options:

  • Choose to compete in one, two or all four events
  • The top two swimmers per age group will be selected
  • Plus, two additional swimmers for the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relays

Special events for U14s, U16s and Opens:

  • 4 x 50m Individual Medley Relay
  • 100m Freestyle

Gear up:

  • No need to wear SMC bathers for trials
  • If selected for the Southern SATIS Carnival, you’ll need to purchase a pair
  • We recommend bringing a cap and goggles for peak performance

If you’re interested in trialling but can’t make it this Friday, don’t worry, we’ve got a make-up session lined up for next Friday 8 August from 7.00am to 8.00am.

Student success | On the court and in the pool

Congratulations to our Year 8 Division 1 Netball team, who wrapped up an incredible season, finishing undefeated in the regular roster and earning a spot in the grand final against Calvin Christian School. They played with skill and determination, securing a 27–14 victory to take home the championship! 

 

A very big thank you to Miss Shanae Stevenson who coached the team throughout the roster.

Year 9/10 Water Polo grand final victory

Congratulations to our Year 9/10 Water Polo team on their impressive Grand Final win in the Term 3 roster! The team defeated Clarence High School / Rose Bay High School with a commanding score of 11–5, showcasing skill, teamwork and determination. 

 

A special shout-out to Millie Beach (Year 9), who was voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the roster, a well-deserved recognition for outstanding performance throughout the season! Congratulations also to Mia Styles (Year 8) for securing third place in the MVP rankings.

State representation: East Coast Challenge

We’re also proud to celebrate Mia Styles, Estelle Leary (Year 8) and Rhea Debnam (Year 9), who recently represented Tasmania in the 15 and Under East Coast Challenge held in Melbourne.

Competing against teams from other states, all three girls played exceptionally well, each scoring a goal during the six-game tournament.

 

Tasmania finished with a strong4–2 record, reflecting the talent and dedication of our young athletes. Well done to all involved!
