All aboard! SMC pilot bus program for Junior School students on the Eastern Shore

We are delighted to announce the official launch of the College's new pilot bus service, which rolled out on the first day of Term 3.

Designed specifically for our Junior School students living on the Eastern Shore, this dedicated service operates twice daily, providing a morning pick-up and an afternoon drop-off, Monday to Friday.

The bus currently operates across designated stops on the Eastern Shore. These include   Sorell (via Midway Point), Cambridge Park, Acton, Lauderdale, Oakdowns, Howrah and Eastlands.

To ensure safe, efficient and timely travel, the program uses a smart routing app to manage pick-ups and drop-offs.

Key details:

  • Cost: $3.50 per trip (each way to and from school)
  • Payment: Cashless service
  • Access: Students will be issued an SMC student bus card, which they must tap on and off the bus for each journey.

The bus is owned and operated by St Mary's College, with support from our Utility Officer – Bus Operations (and resident bus driver), Mr Peter O'Driscoll, pictured.

If you would like more information about the Kinder to Year 6 pilot bus service, have any questions about the program, or wish to register your booking, please contact Peter via email at podriscoll@smc.tas.edu.au
