St Norbert College Swimming Carnival
On Thursday, 6th March, we hosted our exciting Interhouse Swimming Carnival at HBF Stadium. It was fantastic to see a high number of students participating in both the 50m events and novelty races, all working hard to earn points for their house. A special shout-out goes to Olivia Mallabone and Imogen George for their outstanding support and dedication.
The relays brought incredible energy to the stadium, with houses like Premontre and Kilnacrott leading the charge with their chants and musical instruments. The Staff vs Student Relay was a highlight, featuring two extra student teams who faced off against Mrs Marsden, Mrs Robinson, Miss Anderson and Mr Roberts — a truly memorable race!
A huge congratulations to Magdeburg, led by Mr Ah Fong, for winning the Spirit Bear for the second year in a row. The competition for 1st and 2nd place was incredibly tight, with only 150 points separating the top two houses. After an intense battle, Xanten emerged victorious, claiming back-to-back titles with a score of 5693. Well done to all the participants and winners!
The 2025 Inter-house Swimming Carnival was an outstanding start to the school year, filled with great teamwork, spirit, and sportsmanship.
Here are the final standings:
1st – Xanten - 5693
2nd – Tongerlo - 5517
3rd – Magdeburg - 5385
4th – Kilnacrott - 5062
5th – Premontre - 4485

Specialised Basketball
Our specialised basketball teams recently took part in the ACC Basketball Carnivals, representing the College with pride. Our junior teams recently competed, and while the results didn’t go our way, we are incredibly proud of the commitment shown by all players who chose to represent their college on a pupil free day. The junior boys played a series of close, competitive games, and despite falling short by just a few points in several matches, they gave their best effort. The junior girls faced challenges with injuries and absences but still showed remarkable determination and effort throughout the day. As for the senior teams, we had an outstanding performance! Both the boys’ and girls’ teams were undefeated, playing some of the strongest basketball seen in recent years. We’re thrilled to announce that both teams have advanced to the elimination finals. Our SSWA Basketball Competition has now commenced. Our girls and boys basketball teams will compete in the south conference in a weekly fixture for the remainder of Term 1 and into Term 2.
This week was our teams played against Darling Ranges. On Monday 10 March, the Senior Girls team triumphed with an amazing win of 115 - 53!
Tuesday, the Senior Boys followed suit with a strong victory, finishing 98 - 48!
A huge congratulations to all the students who have and continue to represent the College – your dedication to the program is truly commendable. Let’s keep the momentum going, Canons!
