All Things Hub

Springvale Rise Primary School Community Hub

Welcome back to Term 3!

We wrapped up Term 2 with a range of exciting activities and community events. Here's a look at what we've been up to in the Community Hub.

As part of our Healthy Minds, Healthy Communities program in partnership with WHISE, we recently held a wonderful Mothers and Sons session. Families enjoyed cooking healthy burgers and homemade parathas together, providing a fun opportunity to learn about healthy eating while spending quality time with one another. It was fantastic to see mums and sons working side by side, building connections and creating delicious meals together.

To celebrate NAIDOC Week, our English class students proudly visited the Junior Learning Centre (JLC) to perform the story of Tiddalik the Frog. After weeks of rehearsing, the mothers confidently shared this important First Nations story with our younger learners. It was a wonderful way to celebrate Aboriginal culture while also showcasing the confidence and English language skills our mums have been developing.

Looking after your mental wellbeing is important! Our free Yoga for Wellbeing sessions continue every Thursday as part of our Healthy Minds, Healthy Communities program on the Heights campus Women’s group at 12pm. Whether you're new to yoga or have practised before, everyone is welcome to join us for a relaxing and supportive session.

Are you passionate about supporting new parents? The Community Hub is partnering with the Australian Breastfeeding Association to offer a free accredited Course in Community Breastfeeding Mentoring. The course will run on Wednesday 29 July and Wednesday 5 August 9am-3pm. If you would like to become a breastfeeding mentor and support families in our community, we'd love to hear from you. Please contact the Community Hub for more information or to register.
