The Assumption of Mary, celebrated on August 15th, is the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life. Mary, being so special to God, was brought to heaven to be with him. It's a way of celebrating Mary's unique role in God's plan and offering hope that all believers will one day join God in heaven.

Next Friday, August 14th, we will celebrate this with a whole school Mass at 12pm.  All are welcome to attend.

Mercy Award

Our current Mercy Award focuses on the quality of being ‘Faithful’.

The Sisters of Mercy were very faithful and demonstrated faithfulness through their dedication to God, service to others, and commitment to living out the Gospel values. Their founder, Catherine McAuley, instilled a charism focused on the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy, which they continue to embody. This faithfulness is expressed through prayer, contemplation, and active service, particularly to those marginalized by poverty, sickness, and lack of education.

We can be just like the Mercy Sisters and be faithful too.

Some ways we can be faithful here at St Joseph's are:

  • being reliable and keeping commitments
  • showing loyalty to family and friends
  • being true to your beliefs even when challenged
  • engaging in prayer and reflection
  • being honest and trustworthy
