A Snapshot into Maths
Learning Experience Overview
Using the picture storybook as inspiration: Alexander’s Outing written by Pamela Allen, students were asked to solve a worded problem using an array.
What students were asked to do
Students were asked to participate in a number talk to figure out how to solve the worded problem given. Students had to show their understanding by using concrete materials, such as counters and unifix to create an array.
What you can do now to continue the learning at home from this experience.
When exploring multiplication problems, start by encouraging your child to use groups of language and repeated additions, such as 6 groups of 4 when referring to the dining table.
