All Things Hub

Springvale Rise Primary School Community Hub

Over the last week we celebrated all the special mums and carers in our lives by hosting a special Mother’s Day Playgroup. The children enjoyed a variety of activities including giving mum a hand massage, decorating and writing a card for mum, decorating a biscuit, mindfulness colouring, and taking a special photo together at the photo board. We ended the session by reading a special book about mums, singing songs, and presenting our mums and carers with thoughtful gifts. It was a lovely day to show our mums and carers just how special they are to us. We would also like to express a big thank you to our volunteers who assisted with the playgroup activities and helped ensure the day ran smoothly.

In addition, we were fortunate to welcome our special visitors: Betty, a Speech Therapist, and Denise, an Occupational Therapist, from the Monash Health Child & Family Team to Playgroup. They spoke with families about any concerns they may have regarding their children’s development and wellbeing. They will also be returning later in the year, with another scheduled visit to the Heights Campus Playgroup in June.

In Women’s Wellbeing Group, we were treated by our mums to a traditional Cambodian vegetarian noodle dish. We watched the women prepare and cook the meal using fresh ingredients before enjoying a lovely lunch together. It was also wonderful to see some women using chopsticks for the first time!

Lastly, we would like to welcome our new placement student, Miss Alina, who will be joining us every Thursday on the Heights Campus and Friday on the Springvale Campus. Miss Alina is currently completing a Master of Counselling and hopes to support children and families in the future. Later in the year, we hope to offer free counselling support for adults within the Hub program. If you are interested, please let us know and we can assist in booking a session for you.
