Orange PLC Update

🌟 Orange PLC 🌟
🌍 Community Connect
We are already off to a fantastic start in Term 2, with students enjoying rich and meaningful community experiences!
Students visited the local library, where they explored different sections, borrowed books, and practised using community spaces appropriately. These visits supported students to build confidence, independence, and communication skills in real-world settings.
Our shopping trips to IGA have also been a great success. Students followed shopping lists, located items, checked prices, and practised paying at the checkout. It has been wonderful to see students growing in confidence with decision-making, and interacting with community members.
A highlight was our sailing excursion. Students stepped outside their comfort zones, worked together as a team, and experienced the excitement of being out on the water. It was a memorable day filled with fun, learning, and achievement.
💼 Business Enterprise
In the laundry program, students have been working together to sort, wash, dry, fold, and deliver laundry around the school. Students are developing responsibility, teamwork, and routine workplace skills.
Our café program has been in full swing, with students preparing hot drinks and baking cookies for staff. Students have been practising customer service skills such as greeting, taking orders, and working safely in a kitchen environment.
Students have also completed our staff car washing enterprise. They followed step-by-step instructions, used equipment safely, and worked as a team to provide a high-quality service for staff across the school.
In our plastics recycling program, students have been collecting and sorting plastic lids, which are melted down and transformed into pens and keyrings for sale. This has been a fantastic hands-on way to learn about sustainability, production, and entrepreneurship.
Students have also successfully run the Mother’s Day Stall. They helped set up displays, organise gifts, support customers, and handle money during sales. This was a fun and busy event that built real-world communication and numeracy skills.
🔐 Personal Development
In e-safety lessons, students have been learning how to use technology safely and responsibly, including how to protect personal information and make smart online choices.
In personal safety, students have been exploring how to stay safe in the community, recognise trusted adults, and respond appropriately in different situations.
These lessons are supporting students to become more confident, independent, and safe in life.
