PLC Blue Adventures !

What a wonderful start to Term 2!  We have been incredibly busy in Blue PLC and your children have been absolutely shining. Here is a little look at what we have been exploring together.

Mother's Day & Special Persons Morning

We loved celebrating Mother's Day with our families! It was such a special morning having mums and special people come into our classrooms to complete a craft activity alongside their child. The smiles, the laughter, and the love in the room were truly beautiful — it was a highlight of the term for all of us. Thank you so much to everyone who was able to join us!

English

This term we have been completely immersed in our mentor text, The Very Super Bear. Students have explored the story through their senses, gone on a picture walk, shared their likes and dislikes about the characters, identified feelings, and finished off by retelling the whole adventure. Each week we have brought the book to life through a different craft — bear faces, handprint elephants, fork-painted flowers, tissue paper bees, and owl collages. Alongside this, students have been working hard on their phonics through our Little Learners Love Literacy program, learning new letter sounds, heart words, and speed words every week.

Mathematics

In Maths we have been exploring two big ideas — Number and Measurement. Students have been developing their subitising skills (recognising how many objects are in a group at a glance!) through dice games, dominoes, and counting activities. In Measurement we have compared lengths, explored full and empty containers, and investigated heavy and light objects. A highlight was our sink-or-float experiment where we built tin foil boats and tested how many toy animals they could hold!

Health

Health has been all about the people who matter most. We started by exploring our own families — who lives at home, what different family members are called, and how no two families look exactly the same. From there we moved into our class and school community, learning the names of all the important people who help and care for us every day. It has been a really warm and meaningful topic and students have loved sharing about their own lives.

History

In History we have been learning about growing and changing over time. Students explored the stages of life from babies through to adults, had a great laugh looking at baby photos of themselves, and sequenced milestones in order using words like first, next, and then. We linked this beautifully to The Very Super Bear, following Bear's journey from tiny cub to superhero and comparing what changed along the way.
