School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is an evidence-based framework that assists staff and students to develop and maintain a safe and supportive learning culture.

A big part of SWPBS is teaching and reinforcing positive social behaviour. At Hamlyn Views School, we have a behaviour matrix outlining our school values and expected behaviours.

Expected behaviours are reinforced through positive praise, tangible rewards which include our Monty Tokens, and privileges such as choosing a preferred activity. Positive praise works best when paired with specific task feedback to support students to make connections with what they are receiving the praise for. This also helps to encourage students to repeat that behaviour in the future. For example, "Great work showing respect by helping pack away the toys."

We are very proud of our students for their efforts in demonstrating our school values of Learning, Respect and Safety through our expected behaviours.
