Foundation Term 4 Update
Welcome back to another exciting term of learning in Foundation! It has been wonderful to see the students settling back into their routines so beautifully. We have a busy and action-packed term ahead, filled with exciting learning opportunities and special events to look forward to.
Literacy
In Literacy, students have been exploring the digraphs th, wh, oo and ng. It has been fantastic to see their growing confidence as they apply these sounds in their reading and writing.
Last week, our Term 4 Tricky Words were sent home in students’ reader folders. We encourage families to spend a few minutes each day practising these words together. Regular revision at home makes a real difference, and we have seen tremendous growth in students who consistently practise their tricky words. Thank you for your continued support in helping our young readers build their confidence and fluency!
Mathematics
In Mathematics, students have been learning to collect data and represent information using graphs. They have enjoyed gathering information, creating graphs and interpreting the results.
Next week, we will begin extending our understanding of number and place value. Through a range of hands-on activities and practical experiences, students will continue to develop their number recognition, counting skills and understanding of how numbers work.
Hats
With the warmer weather approaching, it is important that every child brings their hat to school each day. Our No Hat, No Play policy is now being enforced. Students without a hat will need to remain in shaded areas during outdoor activities. Thank you for helping us keep our students sun-safe!
Upcoming Events
Friday 30 October – Grandparents’ Day
We warmly invite grandparents and special visitors to join us for Assembly at 9.00 am, followed by classroom visits until 10.00 am. We will then enjoy some fruit and a light snack together before farewelling our grandparents and special visitors at approximately 10.20 am. We look forward to sharing this special morning with you!
Mission Week
As part of Mission Week, we invite families to support our outreach efforts by donating a non-perishable food item. Donations can be placed in the trolley located in the school foyer. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of others.
Week 8 – Swimming Program
Our swimming program will commence in Week 8. Further information, including details about the program and what students will need to bring, will be shared with families closer to the start date.
Friday 20 November – Pevan & Sarah Excursion (Albury)
We are excited that students will be travelling to Albury to attend the Pevan & Sarah concert! This promises to be a fun and engaging experience for our Foundation students. More information about the excursion will be shared soon.
We are looking forward to a wonderful term filled with learning, growth and memorable experiences. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership as we continue to work together to support your child’s learning journey.
