Year 12 Celebration Day

Celebration Day for the class of 2023 was a fun-filled day for students and staff alike. The dress-up theme of childhood TV shows and movies brought back nostalgic memories for students. Making an appearance was the cast from Toy Story, The Wiggles, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Scooby-Doo and the Gang, and many more.

Nothing says celebration like ice cream! The ice cream truck arriving on campus brought smiles to students' faces as they enjoyed their favorite childhood treats. The celebration day would only be complete with a friendly contest between students and staff. A dodgeball game was the final decider for the annual staff versus student competition. Despite being dramatically outnumbered, the staff gave the match a good shake, but the overwhelming number of students got the chocolates in the end. The class of 2023 was given a guard of honour as they left campus for the last time at a year level, with staff and students marking the occasion by applauding them as they made their way out of the front gate. We welcome the students back for their final year-level event, Valedictory night, on Friday the 17th of November.

Year 12 Final Exams

Exam season has started with all scored students who completed a Unit 3/4 subject beginning their final exams, with the English exam kicking things off on Tuesday, 24th of October. The final exam at McClelland is the Japanese exam, occurring on Tuesday, the 14th of November. The students should be proud of their efforts throughout the year and have conducted themselves in the best possible fashion throughout this period.

Year 11 Exams

Unit 2 exams begin on Wednesday the 8th of November, concluding on Tuesday the 14th. I've included a timetable outlining the exams for the period below.  There will be no Unit 1 / 2 classes running during this time.  Students are only required to attend school (in full school uniform) when they have exams.  IC6 will be available for students who wish to study on-site at school.

Year 11 Celebration Day

Valedictory

The Year 12 Valedictory Evening celebrating the Class of 2023 will occur on Friday 17th November.  Tickets can be purchased via Compass.  We look forward to celebrating with our amazing students, their families, and teachers on what is always a highlight of the year!

Year 12 Results Day

Our Class of 2023 will be eagerly awaiting Monday 11th December, which is the day that their VCE results, including Study Scores and ATARs are released.  As has been a McClelland tradition for the past three years, there will be a special BBQ held that day around midday where we invite students back to the College to celebrate their success.

Head Start

VCE Head Start will occur this year from Wednesday 22nd November until Tuesday 5th December.  This is a compulsory part of the VCE course, with all Year 11 and 12 students beginning their Unit 1 and Unit 3 work respectively.

Year 12 Study Camp 2024

Preparations are underway for the Year 12 Study Camp for 2024, which will be held at Monash University in Clayton.  The camp is a fantastic opportunity for our new Year 12 VCE students to begin their final year at the College on a high.  At this stage, the camp will be run from Tuesday 30th until Wednesday 31st January, with tickets around the $100 mark.  More information will be relayed to Year 12 VCE students during Headstart later this year.

SES

The cadets completed their second assessment camp of the year at the school camp Mahaikah between the 11th and 13th of October, working on modules of the VET – Public Safety training package. They all did an excellent job of completing their assessments; demonstrating search and recovery in a bush setting, lifting a pallet safely to rescue a trapped person, and making temporary repairs to a storm-damaged house. Well done to the three teams.
