Welcome Back to Term 3!
We hope all our students, families and staff enjoyed a restful break and have returned feeling refreshed and ready for the term ahead.
Term 3 provides another valuable opportunity for our students to reconnect with Grayling Primary School's values and the positive behaviours that help make our school a safe, respectful and inclusive place for everyone.
Throughout the first weeks of term, students have revisited our school values during Welcome Circles, engaging in discussions about what these values look like in action across all areas of the school. From the classroom and playground to specialist classes and transitions, students have reflected on how their choices contribute to a positive learning environment where everyone feels safe, respected and ready to learn.
At Grayling, we believe that explicitly teaching, modelling and acknowledging positive behaviour is essential to creating a calm and orderly school environment. Families play an important role in reinforcing these expectations, and we encourage conversations at home about our school values and how they can be demonstrated each day.
Our School Community Rallies for Backpacks 4 Kids
On Friday, students participated in a free dress day led by our wonderful SRC team. Together, we raised an incredible $573 for Backpacks 4 Kids!
A massive thank you to our students, families and staff for generously supporting this important initiative. Backpacks 4 Kids is a grassroots charity that provides essential care packs to children and young people entering foster care or emergency accommodation, or experiencing homelessness.
When children are relocated from unsafe situations, they often leave with little more than the clothes they are wearing. The funds raised will help provide My Essentials Packs, backpacks containing age appropriate items such as pyjamas, clothing, toiletries and comfort toys.
NAPLAN Results
Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 students who completed NAPLAN earlier this year. This week, individual NAPLAN reports will be sent home, providing families with an opportunity to review their child’s results and celebrate their progress and achievements.
NAPLAN provides families and teachers with valuable information about each student’s achievement in literacy and numeracy at a particular point in time. These results sit alongside classroom assessments, teacher observations and students’ everyday learning to help build a broader picture of their progress, strengths and next steps.
At Grayling, we also use NAPLAN results to reflect on the effectiveness of our teaching and learning programs. By examining patterns across cohorts, we can celebrate areas of success, identify opportunities for improvement and ensure students receive the right support at the right time.
We encourage families to view NAPLAN as one part of their child’s learning journey. Every student brings a unique range of strengths, talents and achievements that cannot be captured through a single assessment. We are incredibly proud of the commitment and positive attitude our students demonstrate throughout their learning.
Families with questions about their child’s report are encouraged to contact their classroom teacher.
Attendance Matters
Regular attendance gives every student the best opportunity to learn, build friendships and feel connected to our school community. Every day at school counts, and arriving on time helps students feel settled and ready to begin their learning.

As we settle into Term 3, we thank our families for their continued collaboration and support. We look forward to another positive and productive semester filled with learning, growth and opportunities to celebrate our students’ achievements.
