Last term on the last day of school we celebrated NAIDOC day. We were so lucky to host the IOP Hip Hop dance crew who taught us a combination of traditional dances and highly energetic hip hop moves. We also acknowledged some students with special NAIDOC certificates, students who have been outstanding during the term when demonstrating our school values.

What was missed in our assembly was an acknowledgement of the students whose artwork was used to create those certificates. I want to use this opportunity to thank four amazing artists from Grade 4 for their beautiful work – Memphis, Ayla S, Marley and Imelda. The grade 4’s had learned about a First Nations artist called Naomi Hobson & her work about Country. She inspired our own painted artworks. Students used colour, texture and shape to paint a place that was special to them. Currently these works are on display in the library and will be re-displayed in Term 4 for our Art Show.
