MAMI Christmas Appeal

𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿?

𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀

In the true spirit of Christmas, your gift can be a gift to those less fortunate - a gift of love. A meaningful gift for someone special this Christmas is a MAMI Christmas card: a gift that keeps on giving for the entire year and beyond. 

The concept is simple, make a recommended tax deductible donation to one of our programs and you will receive a Christmas Gift Card, which explains that you have purchased a gift card in place of a gift, and give it to a loved one.

Advent Reflection – Week 1

Prayer

Lord Jesus, As we wait in hope for Your coming this Christmas, open our hearts with compassion, that we may gain and give a renewed hope to others through selfless acts of kindness. Reveal in us patience in our waiting and humility in our living. As we pray and reflect, let us acknowledge our weaknesses and our need for reconciliation in readiness for Your coming.

May we be vigilant each day, ensuring that we are worthy to receive You. Keep us strong in confidence that we can be a strength to others less fortunate. Be present in our listening and sharing, guide our thoughts and words, revealing hope through our actions, as we strive to enliven the Season of Advent in all whom we meet. We ask this prayer through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Suggested Activity

Wreath Making

Materials needed: greenery, leaves & small branches, 3 purple candles and one pink. Create an Advent wreath that can be used for each session and throughout Advent.

Hands of Eugene in Action

This term has seen the students at Mazenod working to serve our community through the “Hands of Eugene” Christian Service program. Students have been up at Wilkins Road in Kalamunda caring for the reserve by picking up rubbish and pulling out weeds such as daisies and gladioli. The students were joined by some of their parents and the Friends of Wilkins Road in this valuable community endeavour.

Students have also volunteered at the Cathedral Outreach in the city with staff to provide a meal and hospitality to those in need. The boys have become experts at making toasted sandwiches and serving hot drinks, all while offering visitors a compassionate ear.  The students and staff have been impressive in their dedication to this ministry of the College.

Students and staff who have been maintaining our hut on the Bibbulmun Track had their last visit to the hut on Monday and Tuesday last week. Besides enjoying camping out and cooking on the open fire, the boys also carried out maintenance on the track, clearing fallen branches and trees as well as tidying up around the hut and campsites for hikers. The College’s hut is called Boarding House and is near Manjimup, about half along the iconic Bibbulmun Track.

Young Vinnies Christmas Appeal 2025

We hope that this year’s Christmas Appeal will be bigger and better than ever!

This year, Vinnies has decided to add some delicious items to each of their hampers to provide a special treat for families at Christmas. We might all take for granted that we can enjoy a peanut paste or nutella sandwich, but for many families these are luxuries that they cannot afford.

Each Form has been asked to fill items off the Hamper List which will then be added to the Vinnies Christmas hampers.

We also ask everyone in your Form to make a gold coin donation (or more if you can!) to your teacher, so we can also give the family a gift voucher so they can buy a chicken, ham or fresh fruit and vegetables etc. So instead of buying an ice-cream one lunchtime, give up your treat money to help someone less fortunate.

You can help bring a little joy to a family this Christmas – what a great gift!
