From the Rector

Dear Mazenodian Community,
Our community is deeply enriched by the people within it and their desire to positively contribute to our society in a Christ-like way. I honestly believe I am in such a privileged and honored position to be involved in such endeavours.
The Oblate ministry here at the College over the past 60 years has been one of presence and service and I am very happy to be following in their footsteps.
I have been able to serve and witness our Year 11 End of Year Mass as well as Grandparents Mass and a Year 9 Rite Journey Mass. Each of these occasions has been very respectfully supported.
We are also in the period of time where a number of boys and staff have been baptized and received into the Catholic Church. All of the people came to their own faith decisions and it has been an honour to help support them, alongside Mr Damian Wallis, who has led their preparation.
A new special arrival into the Boarding House has been a Principal/Rector supplied slurpee machine. Not that many of our boys need more sugar but heading into summer it provides them with another way to be happy and content within the boarding community. The boarders will farewell Mr Simon Harvey this weekend and he has the honour of pouring the first cup.
At this week’s Presentation Evening, I shared, very briefly, the life lessons that we can learn from butterflies, and I include a little visual that imparts some of the messages I was hoping to share.
The butterfly is an important symbol of resurrection within our Catholic Christian tradition and during the month of November we particularly pray for everyone, especially our loved ones who have passed away.
Take Care and God Bless
Fr Michael Twigg OMI
Rector of Mazenod College
