Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and Friends of Mazenod College,

“In all things, give thanks; for this is the will of God.”

(1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Our College Presentation Night on Thursday evening this week, was once again a wonderful reminder of what makes our community so special. This event each year provides a perfect opportunity to come together and be able to celebrate the academic commitment, leadership, service, creativity and resilience of our young men, supported so strongly by the dedication of our staff. Congratulations to all students who received awards for their outstanding efforts this year, and sincere thanks to the musicians whose performances added such energy and pride to the evening.

These occasions are only possible thanks to the tireless work of many behind the scenes. My appreciation goes to everyone involved for their efforts to ensure the evening was a success. A particular highlight, as always, were the performances by the Mazenod Jazz Band and Mazenod Concert Band, directed by the ever-talented Mr Sam Graham, who captivated the audience throughout the night.

I also extend my congratulations to our 2026 College Captains, Fynn T and Alexander T, who stepped confidently into their roles as Masters of Ceremonies for their first major College event. They represented the student body with maturity and enthusiasm.

Last week, our community paused in silence for Remembrance Day – an important moment in our national story when we honour those who served, suffered or gave their lives in times of conflict. The service held on Tuesday 11 November was deeply respectful and offered a meaningful opportunity for reflection. Thank you to Mr Leon Maag, Mr Sam Graham, Mr Damian Wallis and Mr Beau Hemley for preparing this solemn occasion, and to all students and staff who contributed, especially our student leaders, the College band and Joel T (Year 11) for his moving performance of The Last Post and The Rouse.

Joel also featured prominently later in the week as part of the Tutor’s Choice performance night, joining 2026 Captain of Arts, Matthew G, as co-hosts of this enjoyable annual celebration of creativity. Congratulations to all students, tutors and members of the Arts team whose support, guidance and hard work were evident in every performance.

“Thank God for all the good you are accomplishing by His Grace.” (St Eugene de Mazenod).

God bless.
