From the Principal Team

The strength of Viewbank College lies in its people – our students, staff, parents, carers and the wider College community. In the short time I have been here, I have been struck by the warmth of this community, the care people show one another, and the shared commitment to ensuring every student feels supported, valued and included.

At a time when events overseas are causing distress and uncertainty across the world, we recognise that these events may be having a profound impact on some members of our community. To those who are affected, please know that you are in our thoughts and that we care deeply about your wellbeing.

At Viewbank College, we are committed to supporting every student to make the most of their educational opportunities while also nurturing their growth as whole people. Guided by our Respectful Relationships Pledge – inclusivity, positivity, care, empowerment and equity – we want every young person to feel safe, valued, respected and that they truly belong. We stand firmly against racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia and any form of discrimination.

Even in challenging times, our commitment to our students remains constant.

We will continue to provide rich learning opportunities and a wide range of co-curricular experiences, supported by strong teaching, excellent resources and a deep culture of care. We want every student to feel connected to their school, confident in their own worth, and supported to grow, achieve and contribute positively to the world around them.

We also understand that world events can give rise to a range of emotions for young people, including worry, sadness, anger or confusion, particularly for those with family, cultural or personal connections to the region. If your child is finding things difficult, or if they experience or witness behaviour that does not reflect our values, we encourage you to contact their House Leader or our Wellbeing Team. We are here to listen, support and respond with care.

By continuing to live our values of inclusivity, positivity, care, empowerment and equity each day, we can ensure that Viewbank College remains a safe, respectful and compassionate community where every person feels seen, supported and valued.

Principal Recruitment Update

I have received confirmation that this process will begin throughout Term 2 with the intention of the successful appointee to begin Term 3. As a result of this news, I will remain at the College in Term 2 and assist with the School Review, and where/if possible the recruitment process.

Security reminder

Over the weekend, members of the public gained unauthorised access to the school grounds and entered student lockers that had been left unsecured. We remind all students to ensure their lockers are properly locked at all times, including throughout the day and before leaving school.

College Council:

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) next Wednesday, 25th March, 2026, where we will present a report to the Community on our school performance against Department of Education measures.

We will also be welcoming our new Council members.

Thank you to those who voted in the School Council elections.
