Chinese New Year

On Tuesday 17th February the international department celebrated Chinese Luna New Year as a team. We had a wonderful celebration with some traditional food and students playing there instruments and also dancing for the break time celebration. This year is the year of the horse.

Here’s what the Year of the Horse traditionally symbolizes:

🌟 1. Energy & Vitality

The horse is seen as lively, active, and full of spirit. A Horse year is believed to bring:

  • Fast-paced change
  • High motivation
  • Dynamic opportunities

It’s considered a year of movement and action rather than waiting.

🚀 2. Success & Achievement

In ancient China, horses were essential for:

  • Transportation
  • Communication
  • Military strength

Because of this, they became symbols of progress and victory.

A famous phrase is:

  • 马到成功 (Mǎ dào chéng gōng) — “Success arrives immediately, "literally meaning “Success comes when the horse arrives.”

🕊 3. Freedom & Independence

The horse symbolizes:

  • Love of freedom
  • Independent thinking
  • Adventure

In art and poetry, running horses often represent ambition and forward momentum.

🏇 4. Strength & Endurance

Horses were vital in agriculture and war, so they also symbolize:

  • Physical strength
  • Determination
  • Loyalty

They are admired for stamina and resilience.

We wish al our students and families a wonderful new year.
